All About Us
Mission Statement
NorthTrek Consulting exists to develop bold, emotionally intelligent individuals & leaders through immersive, nature-based experiences that inspire clarity, resilience, and real connection.
Core Values at NorthTrek Consulting
Rooted in nature. Reinforced through experience. Applied in the real world.
Trust
Built through shared risk and interdependence, whether navigating an adventure obstacle together or cooking a communal meal.
Leadership Lesson: Trust is the foundation of high-performing teams. In nature, participants experience how leaning on others fosters stronger collaboration, psychological safety, and shared ownership, these are key ingredients in any workplace culture.
Resilience
Tested through physical challenge of pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone and then nurtured through mindful recovery in nature’s rhythms.
Leadership Lesson: Leaders must be resilient under pressure. By moving through discomfort on the trail or during outdoor challenges, participants practice bouncing back, this prepares them to handle organizational stress and uncertainty with greater calm and confidence.
Presence
Deepened through sensory immersion and solitude in the natural environment. Nature heals and silence reveals.
Leadership Lesson: Presence is a superpower in leadership. In the quiet of nature, without screens, meetings, or emails, leaders relearn how to listen deeply, think clearly, and show up fully for their teams. Learning to listen more and speak less is a skill all leaders need to master.
Adaptability
Learned by responding to unpredictable conditions, whether it is weather, terrain, or group dynamics.
Leadership Lesson: Change is constant. Whether adjusting to a sudden shift in plans or exploring new terrain, participants gain real-time insight into how flexibility and open-mindedness translate to agile, innovative leadership back at work.
Collaboration
Strengthened through hands-on, co-created experiences from building fires to navigating group hikes.
Leadership Lesson: Strong teams are built, not assumed. Working side-by-side outdoors strips away hierarchy and invites authentic connection, mirroring how inclusive collaboration drives success in organizations.
Clarity
Revealed in reflective journaling, fireside dialogue, and the spaciousness of nature.
Leadership Lesson: Clarity cuts through complexity. Time away from distraction allows leaders to refocus their priorities, reconnect with their purpose, and return with a clearer path forward for themselves and their teams.
Equity
Lived by honoring each person’s pace, voice, and lived experience in a supportive, inclusive retreat environment.
Leadership Lesson: Equity isn't a policy, it's a practice. Our retreats model how to lead with empathy, recognize individual differences, and create cultures where everyone has the space to rise.
Our Story
NorthTrek Consulting was born from a moment of stillness in the mountains when founder Tracy West-Grubb, after years in the C-suite, stepped away from the noise to reconnect with her purpose. A lifelong advocate for education and leadership, Tracy had spent decades blending technical expertise with emotional intelligence to lead high-performing teams. But like many leaders, she eventually faced burnout, isolation, and the cost of putting herself last.
In that quiet, she recognized a deeper truth: even strong, capable leaders can slip into survival mode losing focus, sacrificing their values, and becoming a version of themselves they never intended to be. While many talk about the importance of replenishing leaders, few organizations truly prioritize it. The result? Disconnected cultures, high turnover, and lost potential.
She knew it was time for a new kind of leadership development, one rooted in reflection, resilience, and real connection.
At NorthTrek, we blend strategy with intention, developing bold, emotionally intelligent leaders equipped to communicate with purpose, lead with clarity, and thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Why are we different?
Because we take individual and leadership development out of the classroom and into the real world, away from email alerts, fluorescent lights, and constant interruptions. At NorthTrek, learning happens under open skies, in fresh air, and through movement that fuels focus and creativity. This environment clears mental clutter, ignites innovation, and creates space for honest reflection and lasting growth.
